Abstract

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was to compare perceived self-efficacy before and after 2-day promoting program on emergency patient care skills of nursing students. This was a one group pre-post test quasi- experimental study. Participants were 129 third-year nursing student at Boromarajonani College of Nursing, Chiang Mai. The program consisted of lectures and workshops for training skill. Self- efficacy questionnaires were used to assess perceived self- efficacy before and after the promoting program.  Paired t-test was used to compare perceived self-efficacy of participants both two time points. This results revealed that perceived self-efficacy of nursing students before training the program showed lower levels (Mean = 2.39, SD=0.60) However, after attending the program, nursing students reported higher levels of perceived self-efficacy (Mean=3.90 , SD = 0.44). There was a significant difference between perceived self-efficacy of nursing students before and after attending the program (p-value < 0.001).The study suggested that this promoting program can enhance perceived self-efficacy of nursing students on emergency patient care skills. Potentially, nursing lecturers should be considered to use this promoting program in order to develop perceived self-efficacy of nursing students in term of taking care of emergency patients
